How Much disk space is left over after OS and Virtuozzo is installed?
Virtuozzo and the host OS take 1 GB but are put on a 2GB partition just in case. Your swap partition takes 2 X the amount of memory. So generally speaking on a 320 GB drive, if there is 2GB ram on the machine, you would have a 2GB partition for Virtuozzo and host OS, and 4GB for swap leaving 314GB to split between your VPS packages.
Can I oversell disk space and other resources?
Yes, you can oversell all resources including disk space.
Can I use both hard drives for VPS packages ?
Yes, but it is better to use the 2nd hard drive for your backup Node - Virtuozzo can then make backups to the 2nd drive rather then using it for extra space.
Can I get bigger hard drives?
Yes. There is an additional cost based on market values at the time of the request. Just tell us what size you want and we will get the extra cost on the setup. There is no additonal monthly charge for a larger drive (s).
Can I break the server down into different size VPS packages or do they all have to be exactly the same?
Yes you can break the server down into different size VPS packages. No they do not have to be the same. You can make every single one different if you want to.
What parameters can I set to differentiate my VPS packages?
There are about 25 different QOS (Quality of Service) parameters that can be adjusted for each VPS. Most deal with memory, some with cpu, disck space, and number of processes.
How do I manage the VPS pacakges ?
Our Virtuozzo servers come with the VZCC which is the Virtuozzo Control Center (VZCC) and is a web-based tool for Virtuozzo administrators to perform many VPS and Virtuozzo server management tasks from any computer with appropriate Internet or network access. The VZCC is a combination of many of the tasks previously available in the Virtuozzo Management Console (VZMC) and the VPS owner tool Virtuozzo Power Panel (VZPP). The VZCC tasks include critical tasks that may occur when the administrator does not have ready access to the VZMC.
VZCC capabilities include:
- List, create, destroy, install and de-install application templates
- Manage multiple VPSs at the same time on a single server
- Manage VPS properties and settings
- Use any VPS management functionality available in Virtuozzo Power Panel (VZPP)
- Manage Virtuozzo licenses
- Manage OS and application templates
- Back up and restore a VPS
- View various Virtuozzo logs
What if the Host OS gets compromised, wont that bring all my VPS customers down ?
The host OS should not be vulnerable. It is not necessary for the host OS to be on a network or have any ports on. Typically the user will turn on port 22 for SSH only on the Host OS and set it up so only their IP can connect to it. The VZMC includes an easy to configure firewall to lock out access to the host OS. Unless you are doing some very customized things, you really should not need to access the host OS at all. |
